12 Things To Do In Chicago This Weekend: Celebrate The City’s Birthday, Get Colorful For Holi And More

CHICAGO — You can shop vinyl at a record fair, check out a Women’s History Month art exhibit, sample beers at a local brew fest and more this weekend in Chicago.

Here are 12 things to do this weekend:

Noon-6 p.m. Sunday

Stan Mansion, 2408 N. Kedzie Blvd.

Windy City Made market is returning this weekend after a successful December debut. You can shop from 70 art and vintage vendors selling textiles, fine art, jewelry, ceramics, antiques and more. There will also be sweet treats and cocktails from Stan’s art deco bar. Tickets are $5 online or $7 at the door. Kids 12 and younger can get in for free.

Noon-2 p.m. Saturday

Chicago Market, 4620 N. Broadway

There will be family-friendly activities at this free community event, including activities around fitness, sports and arts and crafts. Attendees can also win raffle prizes from participating businesses. RSVP online to receive double raffle entries.

5-9 p.m. Friday

Triple R Gallery, 5031 W. Montrose Ave.

Artist Jon Hartmann’s is this Northwest Side gallery’s artist of the month. His “Aliens and Alchemy” exhibit debuts this weekend.

1-5 p.m. Sunday

E.G. Woode Business Hub, 1122 W. 63rd St.

Shop vinyl from local vendors and taste samplings from local eateries at this record fair and food market collective. Plus, there will be live DJs spinning music live. Admission is free.

2-5 p.m. Saturday

Pose Cultural Art Gallery, 2136 W. Chicago Ave.

You can check out art displays by local creators and watch them perform live poetry readings. There will be refreshments. General admission tickets are $8 online.

Kicks off 3-5 p.m. Saturday

National Museum of Mexican Art, 1852 W. 19th St.

This annual festival honors Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, a 17th century Mexican nun and writer who fought for a woman’s right to education. Along with being a celebrated playwright, mathematician and poet, de la Cruz is considered by some to be the first feminist of the Americas. This fest kicks off Saturday with a talk with transgender rights activist Sylvia Guerrero. You can register online. The festival runs through May 13.

Women’s History Month Exhibit

6-8 p.m. Friday

Gallery Row, 1819 W. Chicago Ave.

The West Town Chamber of Commerce is unveiling a month-long exhibition in honor of Women’s History Month. The showcase, “We’ve Been Doing It,” features 30 female and non-binary artists. Eight galleries, pictured in the map above, will also stay open late Friday for a self-guided gallery walk and tour through West Town.

Irish American Heritage Center Concerts

8 p.m. Friday-Saturday

Irish American Heritage Center, 4626 N. Knox Ave.

Musicians Kieran Byrne, Aidan O’Toole and Brendan Bulger will play fan-favorite tunes, including Irish, folk and American country music. You can find more information online.

1-5 p.m. Saturday

Navy Pier, 840 E. Grand Ave.

You can honor the ancient Hindu Festival of Colors this weekend at Navy Pier. There will be live music, dance and traditional powder throwing at this free celebration. You can also enjoy food from Bombay Wraps.
