Igor Milicic Jr. Named AAC Player of the Week Following a Pair of Double-Doubles – Charlotte Athletics

DALLAS, Texas – Junior forward Igor Milicic Jr. was named American Athletic Conference Player of the Week following a pair of double-doubles in two wins last week, the league announced Monday.

In the two games last week, Milicic Jr. averaged 15 points, 12.5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1.5 steals, and one block per game. He also was very efficient scoring, shooting 61.5 percent from the field, 50 percent from deep, and 83.3 percent on free throws.

In last night’s victory against George Mason in the Jacksonville Classic, the Rovinj, Croatia native scored 15 points and pulled down a career-high and game-high 13 boards. He was crucial to the 54-49 win as he made six-of-eight free throws down the final stretch and had a clutch steal that resulted in a trip to the free throws to extend Charlotte’s lead to 50-47 with less than a minute remaining.
 
In the win over visiting Utah Valley Thursday, the 6-10 forward scored 15 points with a game-high and then-career-high 12 rebounds. He shot five-of-nine from the field and three-of-six from deep and he added three assists, a block, and a steal.

After averaging 7.7 points and 4.1 rebounds last season with the Niners, the Polish International is averaging 13 points and 10.8 boards through four games this season. He already has three double-doubles this year after recording just one in the 2022-23 campaign.

This is the first weekly award of the season for the Niners and the first award from the American Athletic Conference.

Charlotte Men’s Basketball is in action tonight (Nov. 20) against UCF in the Coast Bracket Championship of the Jacksonville Classic. The multi-team event is held on the campus of Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla.
