Athens, Ohio – It’s Thanksgiving Week and that means Ohio men’s basketball is headed to the Bahamas. Check out everything that’s ahead for Ohio Athletics in this week’s Paw Prints.
FOOTBALL

The Ohio football team (8-3, 5-2 MAC) is set to wrap up the 2023 regular season on Friday, Nov. 24 when the Bobcats head to Akron, Ohio to take on the Zips (2-9, 1-6 MAC). Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. inside InfoCision Stadium – Summa Field and can be seen on CBS Sports Network.
Ohio is coming off a 34-20 win over Central Michigan last week, defeating CMU for the first time since 2011. Redshirt sophomore running back Sieh Bangura earned Mid-American Conference East Offensive Player of the Week accolades for his performance against the Chippewas. Bangura played an integral part in the Bobcats’ offense last Wednesday (Nov. 15), moving the ball down the field efficiently in Ohio’s 34-20 victory over Central Michigan. The redshirt sophomore hit two season bests: rushing yards (126) and carries (21). While Bangura didn’t score any of Ohio’s three rushing touchdowns, he helped position the Bobcats to score throughout the game.
The Bobcats will learn its Bowl destination on Sunday, Dec. 3.

The Ohio men’s basketball team (2-1) is headed to The Bahamas for the 2023 Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship Nov. 24-26 at the Baha Mar Convention, Arts & Entertainment Center. The MTE begins on Friday, Nov. 24 when Ohio takes on George Washington (4-0) at 7 p.m.
The eight-team field features Brown (1-4), Delaware (4-0), George Washington (4-0), UIC (3-1), Kansas City (2-2), Middle Tennessee (3-1), UNC Greensboro(2-1) and Ohio.
Four games will be played during each of the three days of the event.
Action starts Friday, Nov. 24 with the following matchups:
UNC Greensboro vs. Kansas City – 11 a.m. ET
Brown vs. Delaware – 1:30 p.m.
Middle Tennessee vs. UIC – 4:30 p.m.
Ohio vs. George Washington – 7 p.m.
Game times for Saturday and Sunday will be the same with semifinal games on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday’s championship game will tip at 7 p.m.
Ohio is coming off a 1-0 week where they defeated Detroit Mercy, 71-52 Saturday afternoon in the Convo. Senior guard Jaylin Hunter eclipsed 1,000 career points in the win.

The Ohio women’s basketball team (1-1) returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 22 when they head to Morehead, Ky. to take on Morehead State (1-3). Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. inside Ellis T. Johnson Arena and can be seen on ESPN+. Ohio then returns to the Covno after the holiday on Sunday, Nov. 26 when they host IUPUI (1-3). Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+.
Ohio is coming off a 67-61 victory over Dayton last Thursday, giving Ohio its first win of the season.
