Orono, Maine — University of Maine guard Anne Simon has been named the America East Player of the Week for the second consecutive week, as announced by the league on Monday morning.
Simon led the Black Bears to a win over A-10 preseason favorite Rhode Island as she poured in 25 points while adding five rebounds and three assist in the victory. Simon, who scored 21 of her 25 points in the second half, recorded 15 consecutive points for the Black Bears in a second half run which helped put the game away.
Simon’s 25 points extended her double-digit scoring streak to eight in a row while she has now recorded 20 or more points in each of her last three outings. She currently leads the America East in scoring (20.8 ppg) and checks in sixth best among league leaders in rebounding (7.5).
The Black Bears return to action on Friday, Nov. 25 when they open the Vibrant Thanksgiving Classic by taking on Richmond at 5:30 p.m. ET in Des Moines, Ia.
