Women’s Basketball’s Cheyenne Stubbs Named America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week – Utah State University Athletics

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State women’s basketball’s Cheyenne Stubbs has been named the America First Credit Union USU Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Nov. 19. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
With its sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
Stubbs helped the Aggies to a 2-0 showing last week, earning wins at Kansas City and versus Weber State, while leading the team in scoring in both contests. Against Kansas City, Stubbs went for a team-high 19 points, including scoring the game-winning layup at the buzzer to give USU its first win of the season. She also had three assists, three rebounds, four steals and a block. Against Weber State, Stubbs finished with 18 points, four boards, two assists and four steals.
On the week, Stubbs averaged 18.5 points, 4.0 steals, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, while shooting 54.5 percent (12-of-22), including 30.0 percent (3-of-10) from 3-point range and 71.4 percent (10-of-14) at the free throw line.
The Aggies (2-2, 0-0 MW) will next face UC Riverside (1-3, 0-0 Big West) on the road on Wednesday, Nov. 22, at 5 p.m. (MT).

MEN’S BASKETBALL – Junior wing Great Osobor (Bradford, England) led Utah State to a 2-0 record last week with a 93-84 home win against Southern Utah and an 83-60 neutral court win against Marshall in the opening round of the Cayman Islands Classic. Against SUU, Osobor had a career-high 31 points as part of a double-double with 10 rebounds, to go along with four assists, three blocks and a steal. Against Marshall, he had another double-double with 18 points and a career-high 16 rebounds, while adding three assists and two blocks. For the week, Osobor averaged 24.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.5 blocks and 0.5 steals per game, while shooting 71.4 percent (15-of-21) from the field and 67.9 percent (19-of-28) at the free throw line.
FOOTBALL – Sophomore safety Devin Dye (San Diego, California) had a career-high 14 tackles in Utah State’s 45-10 Mountain West loss to Boise State last weekend. For Dye, it was his first-career double-digit tackle outing.
VOLLEYBALL – Graduate senior outside hitter Shelby Capllonch (Honolulu, Hawaii) led Utah State to a 2-0 record last week with a 3-1 win at Fresno State and 3-0 win at Nevada. Against the Bulldogs, she had 14 kills, nine digs, three assists and two blocks. And against the Wolf Pack, she recorded 12 kills, six digs and three service aces. For the week, Capllonch logged 26 kills (3.71 per set) and hit.333, while adding 15 digs, three assists, three service aces and two blocks.
