The Met Gala 2024 truly is the biggest fashion night of the year. Our Instagram feeds are filled with celebrity images, drama, fashion and all things Met Gala at the moment.

This year is an important year as many fellow Indians made us proud to be part of this global fashion extravaganza. This year has spotlighted the range of Indian talent to grace the event. Alia Bhatt, Natasha Poonawalla, Isha Ambani and Mona Patel are some of the people who walked the carpet. Among the many Indian-origin celebrities who made noise and news with their style statement are Ambika Mod, Ashley Simone,Mindy Kaling and more. Mindy chose a sculpted outfit by Gaurav  Gupta while Ashley stunned in a Prabal Gurung creation.

That’s not all, Sabyasachi Mukherjee created history as the first Indian designer to walk the ramp at the prestigious Gala held in New York City.

Interestingly, this year’s theme was The Garden of Time, and matching up to it, the ace designer was seen dressed in an embroidered cotton duster coat from his resort 2024 collection which he skillfully paired with tourmalines, pearls, emeralds, and diamonds from Sabyasachi High Jewellery. He finished his look with tinted sunglasses and brown loafers. That’s not it, Alia Bhatt also wore his breathtaking creation at the same event this year.

It’s inspiring how Indian designers are bridging cultures and blurring borders. Several Indian designers have been creating a cultural dialogue between India and the world and putting the country on the global map.

Rahul Mishra for instance is the first Indian designer to have showed at Paris Couture Week. He’s also the only Indian designer who has won the Woolmark Prize at the Milan Fashion Week. More recently, Isha Ambani wore his creation at the Met this year.

Gaurav Gupta showed at Paris Haute Couture last year and dressed Beyonce thrice during her Renaissance tour. In the year 2022, he dressed Megan Thee Stallion at the Oscars, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at Cannes, Cardi in a music video and more.

Falguni Shane Peacock made their debut at New York Fashion Week back in 2011 and have been a part of it multiple times since. The duo has dressed several Hollywood celebrities for major international events including Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, and Katy Pery among others.
